Hello! In honor of Easter and to celebrate the growth of my Facebook fan page I'm going to have a free giveaway at my blog starting today. I have a fun little quiz for anyone interested in entering to win one of my "Mr. Fluffy Bum Bottom" bunny pins and one of my Petite Purses. A picture of Mr. Fluffy Bum Bottom is shown below.

The exact Petite Purse will be a surprise. Here's a sampling of some of my Petite Purses, which come in a small & a large size. The small size is perfect for giving a small gift in like a pin, magnet or necklace, the larger size is the perfect size to hold a gift card or a small trinket/treasure. This giveaway will be for the smaller size Petite Purse.Now it's quiz time! Shown below is a photo of one my sculptures named Susan (after one of my sisters). She likes the dress and said she would wear a dress like that one, so when I was thinking of a name for her, I decided to name her Susan. Anyway, my question to you is.....what did I use for the structure of this sculpture? Clue: It's an object that I UpCycled. Another way to get a clue is to visit my store and look in my UpCycled sculpture section and find out what I used for some of those pieces.

Yay, displays, yay, yay!!!

Take a look at this great display fixture that I bought last week. It's perfect for displaying my Petite Purses on. And if I had a second one, it would be perfect to display my hand-made pins on. I found this "find" at a local Hallmark store that will be closing at the end of June. I hate to see businesses close, especially Hallmark stores. I used to work at a Hallmark store and have a special place in my heart for Hallmark. Unfortunatley, the store where I worked for seven years closed a few years ago. I miss being able to stop in to say "hi" to my former co-workers and to shop at one of my favorite stores. When the Hallmark store closed I had been working somewhere else for a few years. I made it into the Hallmark store a day or two before the official "closing" and it was sad to see an empty store where I had so many good memories. Since I lost my job this year, I've had two different dreams about going back to work at the Hallmark store where I worked. Each time I've had the dream, I wake up in the morning thinking, "oh, I can go back to Hallmark" and then I realize I can't go back since the store isn't there anymore. Bummer! I miss Hallmark.

And now on a happier note. When I had the display rack home, I was excited to see how all of my Petite Purses looked on it. I was so happy to see how well the displayer worked out. Now if I could find one more for my pins it would be fantastic.

Petite Purses as far as the eye can see!

I have two different sizes of purses. The smaller size purse is the perfect size to tuck in a small trinket, such as one of my hand-made pins or magnets. The larger size is a perfect size to use to present a store gift card. Who wouldn't love to get a gift card held within a cute little package like a Petite Purse?

And one more terrific display fixture I found is shown in the photo below. This I found at yet another business that was closing and yes, it was another gift shop, though not a Hallmark store. I was hoping to find something to display my magnets on and I recall when I worked at Hallmark that we often had similar magnet displayers there. I was delighted to find this displayer and the owner of the store was only asking $3.00 for it. Display fixtures are not cheap, so if a store is going out of business, it is a prime time to stop in and look. I have a craft show coming up in November. It will be my second craft show that I'll have this year. It's nice having some time to get things together. Well, I guess I better be going! I have some crafting projects to get back to before the day is over. Have a nice weekend! :-)

My 1st Craft Show Experience

Well, I survived my first craft show last Saturday. My friend Deanna helped me get all of my last minute things together on Friday. Thank you, Deanna! :-) We had to leave by 6am on Saturday morning, so we packed up most of the items on Friday night.

How successful was the show? Well, in terms of selling things, it was not a big success. Nonetheless, I did sell 2 of my chicks, a Petite Purse, and a Scottie dog pin. One good thing about doing the show is that I was able to meet two other Etsians exhibiting there. I was able to chat all things Etsy, etc with them. And from doing the show, I could see people's reactions to my work and people were able to see my work "in person" vs. seeing it "online." Near the end of the show there was a woman who mentioned to me that she's been thinking of organizing a craft show in the Delafield area and she was interested in having my work at the show.

Another good thing is . . . I have a little bit of craft show experience to learn from and draw upon. Plus, there's the fact that all of the proceeds from the craft show organizers went to the MS walk/run. If I wanted to be "facetious" I would say that I could've brought a TV tray to display my work on since I sold only a small fraction of what I made and packed up to bring to the show. It was a lot of work to do, but as you can see from above, there were plenty of good "non-monetary" things gained from doing it too.

I mentioned that I sold a "Petite Purse" at the show. What is a Petite Purse? Some of them are photographed above. I just added a few Petite Purses to my Etsy shop, Lilly Bug Boutique.


The yellow "Petite Purse" above is one of my favorites. Yellow is such a cheerful color. :-) This yellow one is posted in my Etsy store as well as the blue one shown below.


Petite Purses are perfect to tuck in a little gift, such as one of my pins or magnets. I tucked my little froggie pin into the Blue Petite Purse.
